I’m ambivelent about a lot of places, but I am unrestrained in my love for Chicago. Only Chicago could convince me that the New York hot dog was not, in fact, anywhere near the apex of the hot dog arts (The Chicago Red Hot deserves that honor). Two respectably old school baseball teams, great, great bars, a tradition of unapproachably good and important music, its own, truly imposing style of architecture, an attitude both big city wise-ass and heartland lack of bullshit, a city open to the best and most excessive/creative of new, experimental cooking styles, loaded with great chefs (many of whom are pals), it’s simply another place I’ll use any excuse to visit.

ha ha! the same thing happened to me :)
delicatetbone:

When I first moved to Chicago, I resided in a strange old building that had at one time been a hospital.  It was creaky and old and everyone said it was haunted.  I loved it.  It had a ton of vintage charm that I just never experienced in any of my years living in the south.
The first night it got really cold, there was a horrible banging and then a screaming hissing noise in my room.  I ran into the hallway to get my roommate — WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!! She just looked at me quizzically.  THAT SCREECHING, WHAT IS IT?!! She came into my room and then started laughing.  It was the radiators.  The steam radiators kicked on and sounded with a horrible clanking and screeching as the water pushed through the pipes.  The sound disturbed me so much for days that I couldn’t sleep.  But I quickly adapted and now the sound of a steam radiator comforts me in the winter. It’s like a weird ghost whispering you’re about to get warm.

Exactly the same thing happened to me except I live alone so I just kind of ran aimlessly out into my living room and look around at all the other radiators until I figured it out. hahahaha

I was accepted to Northwestern’s Master’s program in Liberal Studies, which includes all of the humanities! I will be able to tailor a program in a more specific area if I would like. I am so excited. I can’t believe I am going to Northwestern. After I finish my master’s, I will probably go back to law school or continue onto a Phd. Career student! ha
